critiquing profiles


A resource that I created for my students were profile cards for Disney characters.

Students have to read the profile card and decide whether the character is disclosing any information that they shouldn’t.

Eg. Cinderella has the profile name ‘Cindez’ , profile pic is a butterfly and lists her hobbies but also includes her phone number.

Puss in Boots profile name is George, profile picture is a cow and his date of birth listed.

Finally The Big Bad Wolf has the profile name  Pup,  his profile picture is  a Golden Labrador puppy and hi profile information is all very innocent.

The class often debate their ideas but the best discussion comes from the Big Bad Wolf profile and  why students might/might not trust the character, then relating the conversation to how we have to be careful online.
