The dancing men code could be a great theme for beginning coding for students who enjoy mystery and secrecy. There could be a continuation of other lessons where students are promoted to communicate about previous lesson content. I would suggest having a discussion around the time that it takes to decipher compared to encrypt and if they improve their timing as the activity progresses.
(a full code example is simple to google image search or you could have the students create their own symbols to decipher, drawing attention tot the added difficulty of unknown symbols, that could be an extension option)
