Ethics dictates the behaviours deemed acceptable by society. People should not assume that ethics become abandoned due to a persons perceived anonymity online. Therefore ethical understanding is embedded across all key learning areas of the Australian Curriculum.
Respect – for yourself and for others.
Truth – strive to be truthful in your online interactions.
Awareness – everything you do can be tracked back to you and will ultimately remain online forever
Inform – Many of the data we can find online is tainted, bias, there to serve an agenda, or just plain wrong. Ensure you know how to check for credibility online.
Safety – ensure you have strategies to protect your personal data online, and of those around you.
Copyright – be aware of what can be used publicly, and what might be illegal online.
