Students can colour circles with their favourite colours and on a white board (or large piece of paper) they can stick identically coloured circles in rows (ie. pink, purple, blue, green etc. rows). From this, they can brainstorm as a class to find an appropriate title for the chart, and use this data to determine the most/least popular colour in the class. This is a very simple way to show young children how data can be represented in a chart, and how they can use these charts to interpret their data.
