Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extend do you think they should be taught and why?
Cyber security is primarily focussed on protecting computers as well as networks, programs, and data using computer science technologies and systems. Contrastingly, cyber awareness is the term used for the development of knowledge, behaviours and attitudes when it comes to protecting assets and information belonging to us. Cyber safety refers to managing and collaborating online in a safe and responsible manner. I am currently a pre-service teacher so I am not actively teaching in a classroom, however I think that all three of these facets of cyber safety and awareness are very important and should be taught explicitly in the classroom to a certain extent. All of these elements should be touched on in a classroom enough that children know how to stay safe in cyber domains, as otherwise they pose the risk of being unsafe online.
