Creating a Strong Password
To introduce the topic of creating strong passwords, I would first show students the list of the most common passwords over the last 9 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_most_common_passwords
Then, I would ask students to investigate how secure some of their passwords are. https://howsecureismypassword.net/
As a class we would discuss the strength of students’ passwords.
I would then use this “Hector’s World” activity for students to practice creating their own strong password. The activity requires students to select a word, number and character and put them together to make a password. Additionally, students could think of a phrase and use the first letter of each word as well as numbers and characters to make their password. Finally, instead of writing it down, students will be required to draw a simple illustration to help them remember their password.
