Unit 2: Task

Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cybersecurity, cyber awareness and cyber safety.

Cyber Security is the practice of protecting computers, networks, programs, and data from digital attacks through security design, control, protection, awareness, and user behavior. Cyber Awareness is developing and having knowledge about the policies and guidelines which can be implemented through schools, workplaces, and education courses. These courses help individuals develop strategies on how to be safe online and aware of what is going on. Cyber Safety is the safe and responsible use of Information Communication Technologies on the internet and the adoption of skills and knowledge on how to be a safe and responsible user.

To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extent do you think they should be taught and why?

Cyber Safety, Awareness, and Security should be taught is a priority in Primary Schools. I believe this because students need to know how to use digital technologies appropriately especially in this ever-changing society. Students and their classrooms should engage in interactive tasks that raise awareness and highlight the importance of being safe online. This can be done through resources such as; esfatey commissioner, esafety for kids, esafety for young people, and addressed in wellbeing policies through the school.
