Unit 2: Task

Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extend do you think they should be taught and why?

Cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety are fundamentals for students to understand internet safety. The knowledge they must have from each category assists with the students ICT abilities. Cyber security involves computer, network and program protection through extensive computer science systems. Cyber awareness is being able to protect our information in multiple contexts (creating strong passwords, understanding online data is permanent etc). Finally, Cyber safety is the management of being online safely and respectfully to those around us. This is essential in many ways including citations and references, applying codes of ethics and safety, as well as being careful when using technological devices. All three concepts work together to enable safe cyber use. With the technological age becoming increasingly popular it is extremely important to teach all three aspects in detail throughout all subjects when possible. It is important to remind students how to use and find safe websites and how to protect their information.
