#Secondary . My understanding of the differences between Cyber security, awareness and safety have to do with their core themes. Cyber safety revolves around the system with which we access online information, and the hardware/software/procedures put in place to protect users and the system itself. Awareness is focused on user knowledge of the realities of their information in cyber space, and how to recognize situations within those realities in order to respond. Safety seems to be focused on perspectives and values that underpin and shape our awareness and system security.
Is it being taught enough in schools? My experience is mixed. I’ve heard of it being taught, yet students I’ve encountered are not responding. I suspect it’s a case of both teenager laissez faire and a lack of experience of consequences. Overcoming this must be practical, to simulate impacts by performing analogous activities that are creative, engaging and (hopefully) profound.
