What other interesting examples of codes from history or the modern-day (digital or non-digital) can you find to inspire or support a lesson about encoding and decoding messages?
Some examples of codes from history that could inspire lessons about encoding and decoding are the Enigma cipher and morse code. The Enigma cipher was used by Nazi Germany in World War II and would be a good demonstration of why people in history needed and used codes. Morse code is one of the most famous ciphers and can show students how ciphers can be transmitted in numerous ways including writing, light or sounds.
