There are a lot of interesting ways that people have tried to hide messages through history that can be a great way to link the study of history with the study of digital technology. One of my favourites is the Spartan leather straps that got wrapped around a dowel of a given thickness. Only a person with the right sized dowl could read the message. Not overly hard to crack, but an interesting link for students to think about hiding messages.
