Unit 2 Task

  1. Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extend do you think they should be taught and why?

I find that cyber security is performed automatically by specific programs to protect the device. Cyber Safety is using devices in an appropriate manner as one of many network users. Cyber awareness is the developed understanding and knowledge of possible risks and dangers when online networking. A tailored classroom lesson, depending on the age of the students it is being taught to, could be extremely beneficial for students whom are constantly using technology inside the classroom and within the household.

Cyber security is the protection of our computers/devices from digital attacks. Cyber awareness is the information that we allow on the internet and making sure that private information (address, age or school) is not be disclosed on the internet. Cyber Safety refers to our individual use of the internet, meaning emailing or social media. Cyber safety is about using the internet appropriately and respectfully. Teaching cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety is not optional as in this day and age with COVID, a vast majority of classrooms are online and even before COVID it was heavily used. Kids use the internet everyday and it is important we teach these issues so that they can use the internet in a productive and safe way.
