Unit 2

Key differences between cyber security, awareness, and safety:

  • Cyber security is the systems/programs that protect networks such as computers.
  • Cyber awareness is the ability to understand the potential threats to safety and the knowledge of skills to avoids such threats.
  • Cybersafety is the safe and responsible use of information and communication technologies.

All three interrelate but focus on different aspects of cyber knowledge. They should be taught for early ages through direct use of technology and having students complete tasks recording responses to certain situations, such as the online safety challenge. https://www.esafety.gov.au/educators/classroom-resources/cybersmart-challenge
