- Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extent do you think they should be taught and why?
Cyber Security is a term used to refer to technologies, activities, and processes designed to protect networks, computer systems, servers, mobile devices, or programs and important data from network security attacks or unauthorized access.
Cyber Awareness is building our knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in protecting our information and assets..
Cyber Safety is managing and collaborating online safely and responsibly.
The risks coming from online environment is more prevalent now than ever. While more and more teachers attend talks offered by cyber firms to learn about online dangers, they don’t feel comfortable addressing the issues in the classroom. Everybody believes that this should be done by computer science teachers – a role that most schools don’t even have. This is why I think the Digital Technologies subject is so crucial in classroom. Students should be given the opportunity to have an advanced understanding of cyber security, awareness and safety.
