- Create or find a classroom resource that teaches students about creating strong passwords, passcodes or passphrases.
The website “Using Technology Better” has a six-step classroom activity to help students understand the importance of strong passwords. It is both offline, discussion-based and uses an online tool to check password strength and how long it would take a computer to hack that password. In doing this, students can see for themselves the importance of a strong password. The activity also includes an extension activity for students to use common memory games to create super strong passwords – could be a good way to use humour in a lesson too as some of the randomness is entertaining and useful!
