Task 4

Question:

  1. Share your thoughts on what you imagine to be the future of cyber attacks. Consider the types of information we store and share online today. What information will hackers try to get in the future? What approaches do you think they will use?

My response:

As this unit outlined, online threats and scams will forever be evolving and improving.  Therefore, it will be incumbent upon government and corporations that have a stake in the industry to continuously match and beat their malicious counterparts.  It is a never-ending cat and mouse game.

I suspect that the new challenges will emerge with the increase of self-driving smart cars.  For example, we may see hackers remotely ‘taking over a vehicle’ with occupants inside. Additionally, smart phones will continue to be a target, especially as more and more people elect to use their devices for all aspects of their lives (as a credit card, gps device, home CCTV monitor, etc.).
