Unit 2 – Task

Question:

  1. Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extend do you think they should be taught and why?

Response:

Cyber security refers to the technology implemented that protect computers, networks and programs. This can be through the use of specialised programs and devices. Cyber awareness refers to the skills, knowledge and behaviours surrounding online activities and sharing of information. Children need to develop awareness of potential risks when using the internet as well as ways to engage in ICTs appropriately. Cyber safety refers to the use of ICTs in a safe and responsible manner which incorporates security and awareness.

Teachers are now educating students in fast-paced and technology-driven world and consequently, the development of these skills has never been so important. The curriculum contains many ICT components and students need to undergo these tasks in a safe environment.
