1.Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety.
Cyber security requires a professional and technical knowledge and skills of computer science and technology to build up the network and create a strong protection of the computer network or system.
Cyber awareness is related to behaviors, attitudes and knowledge of how to protect our information and asset in the network.
Cyber safety requires us to understand the network community we are using and to responsibly and wisely share our personal information as well as the community information.
2. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or do you think they should be taught?
Honestly speaking, I have not taught the concepts of cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety before. Also, I myself have not learned anything about these concepts before this course.
Therefore, I have found the information I got in Unit 2 extremely useful to me. I believe that both teachers and students should be literate in these concepts.
In classroom, I think we will spend more time on raising students’ cyber awareness and providing them with knowledge of cyber safety. If students are aware of how to protect themselves, they will act and behave wisely and responsibly when using school network.
Nowadays, more and more students have their personal smart phones and laptops to school connected to the Internet. Without being educated about the risks of cyber attacks, students could face serious problems in their social online network.
In this pandemic, we can see dangerous attacks from cybercriminals. See the link below for more info.
