Whenever we browse websites, we leave a trail of information behind us which people can collect and use, passively or actively, for different purposes. These can be as simple as comments you makes on your friends’ Facebook or your “like” on something on social net workings through which people may know what you like or are interested in or your opinions about something. Another simple way that we leave traces of information is using insecure public Wi-Fi. If someone gets access to your computer or other personal devices through a compromised public Wi-Fi connection, they could steal everything stored in your device. For example, they might get access to your login credentials and log into your bank or credit accounts. Therefore, we should be well aware of digital footprints and how we use our digital devices.
