Unit 5 – Question 1

In this post, I would like to share my top 5 code of ethics statements for using technology in the classroom. They are as follows:

  • Trust the content on the appropriate and safe websites for learning. There are tons of website which may contain inaccurate information. Therefore, student need to check the accuracy of the content on the website with the journal article or the textbook.
  • Referencing original sources. Whenever students use an idea from someone else’s work, for example from a paper, textbook or website, students should cite the original author to make it clear where that idea comes from.
  • Check the copyright and related laws before using or sharing content. Students need to understand the copyright law to ensure that they follow the rules when using or sharing the content.
  • Check the accuracy of the information before sharing it. Social media allow anyone to publish or share stories to the world, therefore student need to check the accuracy of online stories that they view online before they share it.
  • Prevent cyberbullying. Students need to learn how to create positive online communities, how to address, respond to and prevent the negative impacts of cyberbullying.
