QTS_Unit 2_Question 1

There are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety. Cyber security is to protect users from cyber-attacks.  On the other hand, cyber awareness is through education and policy to understand the potential threats to safety and the knowledge and skills of users to avoid threats. Finally, cyber safety is the safe and responsible use of information and communication technologies.

I think it is very important for students to understand these terms to keep them safe. When students are taught about ones, they can protect themselves from potentially harmful or inappropriate content and activities. Because, in this era of rapid technological advancement, students need to immerse themselves in technology at a young age in order to start learning the skills they will use throughout their lives, so they need to be warned about the risks that accompany all those cool smartphone and computer applications. School teachers should include these cyber security basics in their everyday curricula. At a minimum, every young student should know how to keep their information private, to refrain from responding to strangers and to report anything unusual to an adult. For example, students should think about what they are going to click and know if it is necessary or safe to do so. Never click on suspicious links that are sent by strangers and do not reply to messages from unknown sources. They should keep the devices protected with a password or thumb scan and always log out and shut down after use, especially when leaving it alone. Also do not leave the devices unattended in a public place.
