Question 1

Cyber security, cyber awareness and cyber safety are all very similar terms, however there are many differences between them.

– Cyber security is the practice of protecting computers, networks, programs and date from digital attacks through ways such as robust computer science technology and systems. What related to cyber security are skilled professionals who design technology and systems, strong testing procedures to prevent attacks, applying innovations (e.g. Biosecurity, artificial intelligence), maintaining secure technology and systems (e.g. encryption)

– Cyber awareness is the knowledge, attitude and behaviours that aim to protect our information assets. To do this, we need to create strong password and two factor authentication, raise awareness of data – use and misuse, awareness of cyberattacks, knowing data online is permanent.

– Cyber safety is the act of safe and responsible use of Information Communication Technologies. In other word, cyber safety is managing and collaborating online safely and responsibly by citing original authors, sharing thoughtfully, considering “digital footprint”, applying a code of ethics, applying safe settings, being careful with devices and tools.

These three topics should be taught extensively in classrooms, especially cyber awareness and cyber safety as they ensure we are being the safest we can be on the internet.
